“Life on the Northern Home Front,” by Mary Frailey Calland
Calland, author of Consecrated Dust: A Novel of the Civil War North, will be speaking on what life was like on the Northern home front during the American Civil War. Her particular focus will be on the experiences of the citizens of Elmira who sent their men off to fight, only to have the war come home to them in the guise of 12,000 Confederate prisoners incarcerated at the Elmira Prison Camp.
