Historical:The Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen-The Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, a labor union and mutual insurance organization for railroad workers, was founded in Oneonta, New York in 1883.  The first Ladies Auxiliary was organized in 1889.  The two Elmira lodges, No. 229 Chemung Lodge and No. 413 Northern Central Lodge, were founded in 1894. Both lodges had Ladies Auxiliaries associated with them.  The Clara Bradley Drill Team was founded in 1922 from members of the Ladies Auxiliary of both Elmira lodges and preformed marches and dance drills at various occasions.  The organization provided benefits to widows, orphans and disabled railroad employees, as well as political lobbying on behalf of railroad workers.  In 1969, the Brotherhood merged with two other railroad unions to form the United Transportation Union. 
Scope:The Ladies Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen/ Clara Bradley Drill Team Collection contains records pertaining to those organizations including treasurer's reports and minutes, 1926-1964; newsletters, 1963-1964; correspondence, 1948-1965; and miscellaneous material.
