Welcome to the Booth Library manuscript index. 

The manuscript index contains links to finding aids for the collections of the Booth Library.  Each finding aid has a description of that collection along with a listing of the items within that collection.  The Booth Library staff and volunteers are updating the index daily in order to make your research experience more productive.

Lila R. Seeley - Lila Rawson Seeley was born in Tioga, PA and married Edward Seeley of Elmira.  The couple lived for many years at 1112 Ovid Street in Elmira and had a farm house on East Hill.  Lila worked at Loomis & Hall Photo Studio as well as Madelyn's Grill while Edward worked in the construction trade.  The two were active in various social clubs including the Order of the Moose, Junior League, Eastern Star and Daughters of the American Revolution.  During prohibition, the couple engaged in bootlegging and ran a speak-easy in their home.  They had one daughter, Frances Seeley Lewis (1912-1984).  Edward died in a fire in 1954 and Lila died in 1984. 

Scope:The Lila R. Seeley Collection includes a scrapbook, 1940s-50s; photographs, 1940s-50; and miscellaneous material, 1930s-80s.
