Date Completed:June 1, 2007
Historical:

The Eclipse Machine Company-The Eclipse Bicycle Company was founded on August 12, 1895.  Around 1889, the company stopped producing bicycles and started specializing and produced the Bell Hub Bicycle Brake, which it manufactured until 1903.  On December 19, 1902, the company changed its name to the Eclipse Machine Company.  The company's focus shifted again in 1914, when it began manufacturing parts for automobiles, including the Bendix Drive, as well as equipment for airplanes during WWI.

In 1928, the Bendix Corporation acquired the Eclipse Machine Company and it became part of Bendix Aviation in 1929. In 1938, they changed names again, this time to Eclipse Machine Division, as it was now a division of Bendix.  During WWII, the division manufactured time fuses as well as fuel pumps for B-29s.

In 1960 Bendix Aviation changed its name to The Bendix Corp.  In 1966, Eclipse became officially known as the Motor Components Division. In 1974, Motor Components became a part of a new company, Facet Enterprises, Inc., which it is still a part of today.
