Welcome to the Booth Library manuscript index. 

The manuscript index contains links to finding aids for the collections of the Booth Library.  Each finding aid has a description of that collection along with a listing of the items within that collection.  The Booth Library staff and volunteers are updating the index daily in order to make your research experience more productive.

Historical:Elmira - The town of Elmira was originally founded in the late 1700s under the name Newtown.  The name was officially changed to Elmira in 1808.  The city of Elmira was incorporated in 1864 and serves as the County Seat for Chemung County.  The town of Elmira lies to the east and west of the city. 
Scope:The Elmira Collection contains official city documents including budgets; department reports; zoning ordinances; government publications; and misc. official documents.
