Welcome to the Booth Library manuscript index. 

The manuscript index contains links to finding aids for the collections of the Booth Library.  Each finding aid has a description of that collection along with a listing of the items within that collection.  The Booth Library staff and volunteers are updating the index daily in order to make your research experience more productive.

Provenance:The items in this collection were donated to the Booth Library by Susan Allen in 2010.

Historical:

Swartz Family-Benjamin Miller Swartz (1851-1940) and his wife, Mary Etta (1874-1936), were the first of the family to settle in Elmira.  Benjamin Swartz worked for the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad and moved to Elmira in 1893 for work.  Their children were Etta (1875-1845), Harry (1876-1938) and George (1890-1955).  Susan Swartz Allen, compiler of the collection, is the granddaughter Harry through his son Charles.  

Cox Family-The Cox Family of Maryland are descendants of William Jump of Maryland.  Elnora Cox, daughter of Clara Fish and Percy Cox, is the mother of Susan Swartz Allen.

Scope:The Swartz Family Scrapbook Collection contains scrapbooks with genealogical information, photographs, letters and miscellaneous documents relating to the Swartz and Cox families.
Notes:Scrapbook #3 shares a box with CL 64.
