Historical:

Lutz Meat Market- The Lutz Meat Market, located at 56 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, was founded in 1906 by Joseph J. Lutz.  He retired in 1939 and the store was acquired by Selaer and Jennie Ayers.  In 1954, Louis J. Lutz, Joseph's nephew, took over the store and ran it until it went out of business in 1966.  The store served primarily as a butcher shop but also sold groceries as well. 

Scope:The Lutz Market Papers include financial ledgers, 1954-1966; invoices, 1939-1965; Betty Clemons and Matilda Dartt letters, 1965-1988; and miscellaneous family papers, 1940-1973.
