Historical:Daughters of the American Revolution - The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) are a national organization of women descended from veterans of the Revolutionary War.  The organization works to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism.  It was founded in 1889 by First Lady Caroline Harrison as part of the centennial of the inauguration of President George Washington.  The local chapter, known as the Chemung Chapter, was founded in 1897.
Scope:The Collection of the Daughters of the American Revolution contains the minutes of the Chemung Chapter of the DAR from 1897 to 2003.
