Welcome to the Booth Library manuscript index.

Historical:

Edna Eugenia Smith- Edna Eugenia Smith was the daughter of James N. Smith of Elmira.  Edna worked as a dressmaker from 1899 until 1917. 

Norbert Gabel- Norbert Gabel was an Austrian-born concert pianist.  He studied at the Vienna Conservatory and toured Europe as a pianist before immigrating in 1940. During World War II, he served as a sergeant in the United States Army, primarily in Alaska.  He worked as a music lecturer, sales associate for Elmira music store M. Doyle Marks & Son and as a concert pianist, often with friend Edward Whittenhall.  He died sometime in the early 2000s.
