Historical:

Arnold B. Jerome-Arnold Jerome was born November 18, 1911 to Max and Ella Jerome of Elmira, New York.  He graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1928 and from Yale University in 1932.  After graduating, he returned home to work as a manager at his parents' clothing store, then known as the Empire Credit Clothing Co. at 314 East Water Street.  He enlisted in the United States Army in July of 1942. From the summer of 1943 to April of 1945, he served as the chief clerk for the 59th Military Police Company, Police District No. 1 in the city of Naples, Italy.  On April 5, 1945, Jerome was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant and transferred to the 803rd Military Police Battalion, also in Naples.  He was honorably discharged from the army on February 3, 1946 and returned home from Elmira to take charge of his family store.  In 1948, he married Etta, a former Army nurse.   

Scope:The Arnold Jerome Collection consists of material related to Jerome's service as an MP during WWII and includes his official service record, various orders and military correspondence, training manuals and records pertaining to the 59th MP Company stationed in Naples, Italy.  The collection also includes a photo album with over 100 images of Arnold and his wife Etta during their respective tours of duty.
