“My Dear Brother: A Seneca Family in the Civil War Years” by Deborah Holler
Although the Civil War is most often thought of as a "white man's" war, many American Indians joined the troops. Holler, a professor at Empire State College, will discuss the life of Union General Ely S. Parker, a Seneca man, and his family as they endured the Civil War. This program is sponsored by the New York Council for the Humanities, a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
This lecture is free and open to the public.
