Fall Lecture Series
Mark Twain as Paleontologist and Author at Quarry Farm
Oct 24  7:00pm

The first part of this talk Dr. J. Michael Pratt, Associate Professor of Environmental Science at Elmira College will recount how Mark Twain's friend, Joe Goodman, and fossil hunting at Quarry Farm in 1871 helped him overcome writers block and complete his second book, Rouging It (1872). The second part will show the various kinds of fossils Dr. Pratt and his paleobiology students have collected for nearly 10 years in the same quarry in which Twain prospected and wondered about the remains of prehistoric life.

Program is free and open to the general public.
