Welcome to the Booth Library manuscript index. 

The manuscript index contains links to finding aids for the collections of the Booth Library.  Each finding aid has a description of that collection along with a listing of the items within that collection.  The Booth Library staff and volunteers are updating the index daily in order to make your research experience more productive.

Provenance:The items in this collection were donated to the Booth Library by James Canfield in 2010.

Historical:Lain-Carpenter Families - The Lain and Carpenter families of the Twin Tiers were united in 1890 with the marriage of Jennie P. Lain and Smith F. Carpenter.  The couple settled in Elmira Heights where Smith ran a small variety store.  Their children include David, Smith and Harriet Carpenter.  Jennie was an avid genealogist and the record keeper for the Lain family reunion. 
Scope:The Lain-Carpenter Family Collection contains genealogical notes on the Lain and Carpenter families; photograph albums of the families and Elmira Heights, 1860s-1900; local history scrapbook, 1940s; Lain family reunion material 1920s-40s.
