Provenance:The items in this collection were donated to the Booth Library by Fred Lawrence in 2016.

Historical:Chauncey Lawrence (1888-1951) was born in Elmira, New York.  He joined the Navy in 1905 and sailed around the world with the Great White Fleet before being discharged in 1909.  He reenlisted to serve during World War I.  He attempted to serve during World War II, but was rejected due to his age.  He joined the Naval Reserves in 1947 and was called up to serve in the Korean War.  He died of a heart attack while on active duty. 
Scope:The Chauncey Lawrence Papers contain Lawrence's postcard album of the voyage of the Great White Fleet, 1907-9; papers and photo album from World War I, 1917-1919; Korean War correspondence, 1950-1951; and miscellaneous papers and photographs from his life, 1888-1952.
