Provenance:The items in this collection were donated to the Booth Library by John L. Korydyll in 1987. 
Historical:The Thatcher Glass Manufacturing Company (1905-1985) manufactured milk bottles and other food containers. It had plants located in Kane, Pennsylvania; Streator, Illinois; Elmira, New York; Wharton, New Jersey; Tampa, Florida; Lawrenceburg, Indiana; Toledo, Ohio; and Saugus, California. In 1966, it became a division of Rexall Drug and Chemical Company, later called Dart Industries, Inc. In 1985, Thatcher was sold to Diamond-Bathurst. The company went bankrupt in 1987.

The Thatcher Glass Manufacturing Company Collection contains bottle design material, 1940s-1960s; advertising and promotional materials, 1930s-70s; newsletters, 1920s & 1940s; minutes of the Board of Directors, 1900s-1920s; financial reports, 1970s; annual reports, 1940s-60s; administrative records, 1970s; material related to anti-recycling lobbying, 1970s; James Arrandale papers regarding company history, 1970s; and company histories.

Monday - Friday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Research Fee: $5.00 per day for non-members
Free to members of the Society and students

The Museum Shop:
