Glen S. Banfield - Glen Banfield was born in Elmira New York in 1908. He began a career as a pilot and soon owned and operated his own airport in 1936. He also owned a flying school called Flyers' Services with partner Lt. Ernest Vetter.  The two taught many men who would later become World War II pilots. After the war, Banfield closing his own airport and became the manager of the newly opened Chemung County Airport where he worked until his retirement in the 1980s.

Scope:The Banfield Collection contains Glenn Banfield's correspondence 1942 to 1991; documents pertaining to the Banfield Airport and flying school, ca. 1940s; administrative documents relating to the Chemung County Airport, 1947-1970; papers relating to the Banfield farm, ca. 1970s; and miscellaneous personal papers.
