Welcome to the Booth Library manuscript index.

Beulah Charles Jani-Beulah Charles, daughter of John and Margaret Charles, was born January 4, 1904.  She was born in Elmira Heights but grew up in Lockport.  She began teaching elementary school in Elmira in 1925.  She taught at School Nos. 9 and 11 and retired in 1970.  She married Robert Jani in 1948.  

Robert Jani-Robert Jani was born July 19, 1909 in Hartford, CT, to Joseph and Marie Jani.  He graduated from Case University in 1931.  During World War II, he worked as a civilian consultant for the Navy Department as a naval material inspector stationed in Elmira.  In 1946 he took a job at Corning Glass Works where he worked in Product Development Services until he retired in 1972. Both he and his wife died in 1990 and are buried in Woodlawn.    

Scope:The Robert & Beulah Jani Papers include Beulah Jani's diaries from 1927 and 1948-1985; Robert Jani's work-related correspondence, 1945; assorted photographs, 1946-1975.
