Welcome to the Booth Library manuscript index.

Panama Canal (Panama)


Moses Max Goldstein - Moses Goldstein of Elmira, N.Y. was the son of a local businessman and clothier.  In 1907, he took a job as a police officer for the Isthmian Canal Commission in Panama.  In late 1909, he traveled to Brazil before returning to Elmira.  He died in January of 1910 from malaria contracted during his travels. 


This collection contains correspondence, postcards and ephemera dating from 1907 to 1910 and relating to Moses Goldstein’s travels in South America.
